The Somatic Eating® approach addresses the following three ingredients to your relationship with food:

 

Eating, Needing, Sensing

 

Eating

The Eating ingredient will teach you to track how different foods feel in your body, increase your interoceptive awareness, and get to know if your nourishment is providing you with the sensations and emotions you’re looking to feel.

 

Needing

The Needing ingredient will explore getting to know the parts of you that choose food to feel safe, how to somatically identify the difference between physical and emotional hunger, and satiating your hungers in more aligned ways.

 

Sensing

The Sensing ingredient will guide you to track and regulate your nervous system to make more informed food decisions, learn how to digest emotions with more ease to decrease the likelihood of reaching for food out of body dysregulation.

 

The process of this work:

Safety

At the beginning of our time together, we will explore your food and body coping mechanisms with curiosity and compassion to cultivate understanding of how they’ve been protecting you and trying to support you in feeling safe while also working to increase your sense of safety to inhabit your body. 

Security

We will collect data on the felt sense of your body to get to know what guides you toward a secure relationship with your food and body and what moves you away from it. You will be guided into your body slowly and in a tolerable way so as to not overwhelm your system. 

Satiation

You will be given explorations to discover what satiates your unique body physically and emotionally so that you feel like you have a better understanding of your body and it’s needs.

In this 20 minute call, we will discuss what you’re looking to receive support around and your goals and dreams of what you’re desiring to create in your life. If we both feel we would be a great fit in working with one another, we would then schedule your Initial Intake Session.

Initial Intake Session

The Initial Intake Session includes a 50 minute long session where we will go over your main health concerns, current and past eating habits and patterns, family history, your hopes for what you’re desiring for in your life and so much more. 

You will leave the session with more awareness around your habits and patterns and initial steps in how to begin the process of communicating with your body in a new way.

 

Follow Up Sessions

These are 50 minute sessions in which we will check in on your progress, continue to delve deeper into your habits, patterns, and symptoms, and create goals and engage in explorations to be worked upon in between sessions. You will learn the tools of Somatic Eating®.
